This house has been rescued by Tawny Davis and her husband Ian, by moving it from the City of Tukwila through a portion of the City of Kent, and on to the City of Renton for barge delivery to the City of Seattle, just North of Seward Park. The Historic "Wietzel House" has been a prominent Victorian Farmhouse beauty that people have admired for years, perched on S. 180th St. adjacent to the new Kent/Renton main railway bridge (between Ikea and Home Depot in Kent Valley). The purpose of this website is to keep everyone informed of key information about the house move. As the planning progresses, we will post the dates, times, permissions & approvals, and other key information. Initially please find below the two main parts of the route: Kent Valley and Seattle. We are also listing the proposed move dates, and will soon be following up with a detailed schedule of the move times. Please feel free to contact Jeff McCord from Nickel Bros. House Moving (206-933-9699) and/or Tawny Davis (206-852-6428) for further updates and information. |

Kent Valley Route Updated December 6, 2007: Projected to take place on Friday, December 28th, 2007 at 12:01 am, the house will begin at 7210 S 180th St. It will then travel South on 72nd Ave S, turning East on S 196th St and crossing the Viaduct. It then turns North on 80th Ave S and crosses S 180th St, becoming Oaksdale Ave S. It then turns East on S 34th St, and North on Lind Ave SW. Once across the 405 into Renton it continues North on Lind Ave SW and turns East on SW 7th St, then North on Hardie Ave SW. On Hardie it crosses a critical point where the Hardie railroad bridge is temporarily down, enabling the house to pass. The delivery timing of the bridge steel is currently still an unknown, but appears likely to be delayed until after the new year (hence, the move date being before the end of the new year). Note: If the Hardie Ave SW bridge goes up earlier we still have a contingency plan for use of Rainier Ave SW, which is not scheduled to go back up before the end of the year. Once past the Hardie railroad crossing, the house will turn West on SW Sunset Blvd, and then North on Rainier Ave SW to the south end of the Renton airport. Once at the airport (at approximately 5:00 am), the house will be prepared to cross the airport using the West taxiway beginning at 5:30 am and complete its barge loading procedure by 7:30 am, setting sail for Seattle's Seward Park neighborhood. Please see the Seattle portion of the route outlined below. |

Seattle Route Projected to take place on Saturday, December 29th, 2007 beginning at 12:01 am, the Seattle portion of the route will start at the barge-landing location on Lake Washington Blvd S, just North of Seward Park. The house travels South on LWB and turns West on S Orcas St. It then goes one block to 57th Ave S and travels approximately 1/2 block to the receiving site at 5442 57th Ave S, being delivered to the property by approximately 5:00 am. |
